Join us on Saturday, April 21 for the Co-op's annual Community Earth Day Celebration. There will be a Clothing, Book & Media Swap, kids activities, 5% shopping discount for member-owners, and MORE! Check out our event schedule below:
8am-2pm Join our Community Clothing, Book & Media Swap! This swap is a great way to reduce, reuse, and recycle. Free swaps divert items from the waste stream by redistributing the items through our community.
How does it work? 1) Bring your gently worn spring and summer clothing and previously loved books, music, and video games to the swap. 2) Explore the tent to find free, new-to-you treasures. 3) At the end of the day, Central Vermont Solid Waste Management District (CVSWMD) will collect the remaining swap items to continue redistributing.
Everyone is welcome, and you don't need to bring items to participate. All items should be clean and in decent condition. No early birds, please! All drop-offs and "swapping" needs to happen between 8 am - 2 pm.
Have old cell phones and dead batteries hanging around the house? CVSWMD will be onsite collecting phones and batteries during the swap. Wondering where to take your old TV or computer? Learn more about the Additional Recyclables Collection Center located in Barre.
10am-2pm Kids can enjoy face painting by the amazing Shirley from Face Mania and have fun playing in the solar-powered bouncy house provided by SunCommon (weather permitting)! We'll also have family-friendly activities happening in our kids' tent. Learn about salamanders and amphibian migration with North Branch Nature Center, hear stories and enjoy hands-on activities with Kellogg Hubbard Library, and plant organic seedlings to take home from Cate Farm at our gardening table. Our staff Green Team will be on-hand sampling yummy snacks from our bulk department, raffling off ChicoBag snack bags, and sharing ideas on reducing “snacking waste.”
10:30am-12:00pm - Gardening for Pollinators, Birds & Beauty with Erin O'Hara, of Turtle Hill Native Plant Nursery Preregistration is required. Email us here.
3-5 pm - Vernal Pool Exploration with John Jose, Biologist (Part of this workshop will be spent at Hubbard Park in Montpelier.) Preregistration is required. Email us here.
